Position Overview 

The Creative Producer plays a vital role in the creation, development and delivery of a diverse program of new work and touring projects. In this role, they work with the CEO to plan and assess future artistic projects, develop new initiatives and enhance existing programs.

The role requires experience both in project management and relationship building as well as key producing skills and strong capacity to support the development and delivery of our annual program of new work and touring projects.

This is a part time (0.5) position.

Salary $90,000 p.a. FTE.

 

 Position Description 

1. Artistic Programming 

a. Identify projects for creative development towards professional performance.

b. In collaboration with the CEO, devise an annual artistic program for approval by the Board.

c. In collaboration with the CEO, assemble financial, management, artistic, and technical resources required for the development of these projects as new work and/or touring projects.

 

2. Workshop Leadership

a. Develop and monitor workshop programs, in line with the artistic vision and the need of performers. 

b. Engage, train and mentor competent teaching artists for the workshop program.

c. In collaboration with the CEO, modify and/or expand the workshop program to meet changing needs of performers and potential new members.

d. Actively support educational initiatives, including student work placements.

 

 

3. Administration 

a. Create and maintain timelines for the artistic program.

b. In collaboration with the CEO, identify funding opportunities and develop, prepare and submit funding applications to relevant bodies.

c. Comply with funding requirements, including preparation and submission of acquittals of funding grants in a timely manner.

d. Prepare artistic reports and other reports as required.

e. Monitor project budgets.

 

 

4. Board Services 

a. In collaboration with the CEO, compile an artistic report for each Board meeting, and other reports as required.

b. In collaboration with the CEO, present artistic reports to the Board, as invited.

 

5. Legal and Statutory 

a. Uphold the Policies and Procedures of No Strings.

b. Ensure that all cast, crew, teaching artists and guest Directors are informed of, and uphold, all relevant No Strings Policies and Procedures.

c. In collaboration with the CEO, manage the terms and conditions of engagement of production personnel by No Strings.

d. Ensure good employment practices are adopted and maintained, including WHSW issues.

 

 

6. Public Relations and Advocacy 

a. In collaboration with the CEO, foster and maintain strategic relationships across the corporate, government and non-government sectors that enhance the reputation of No Strings.

b. Contribute to the planning and delivery of No Strings' Community Engagement program.

c. Assist in promoting No Strings' productions as required.

 

 

Selection Criteria 

Essential:

a. Demonstrable artistic vision.

b. Experience in taking leadership within creative teams.  

c. Demonstrated administrative and organisational skills, alongside practical producing experience.

d. Excellent communication skills and ability to work with a diverse range of people.

e. Proven capacity to work both collaboratively and autonomously, managing deadlines and showing initiative.

f. Demonstrated ability to prepare and manage project budgets.

Desired:

• Knowledge of the disability sector. While direct/personal experience with disability is not mandatory applicants should show evidence and awareness of organisations/networks within the disability and arts sectors.

• Tertiary level qualification in arts or related discipline. 

• Senior arts management experience.
